Zayo Group has formed a dedicated team focused on Small Cell and Fiber to the Tower (FTT) initiatives. The team will be reporting to Matt Erickson, President of Zayo Fiber Solutions and David Dunn will lead the team committed to making Zayo’s fiber footprint available for Small Cell deployments. Small Cells, which are smaller antennas that attach to lamp posts, buildings and other aspects of the urban landscape, are utilized to enhance the mobile network reach for wireless providers.
Zayo currently manages fiber in more than 50 metro markets, and with the pending acquisition of AboveNet will enable other tier 1 markets such as New York, San Francisco and Houston. Already, Zayo provides the underlying infrastructure for 100 Small Cell locations in three metropolitan markets. Zayo will continue to build on its expertise in FTT, where it has been providing turn-key lit and dark solutions for wireless providers at Macro sites, and apply it to Small Cell deployments.
