You’re either on the information super highway; or you’re not!

At the Strand Capitol Performing Arts Center in York, Pennsylvania, executives from United Fiber & Data (UFD) launched a new low-latency, fiber-optic network that will run between New York City and Ashburn, Virginia. They were joined by three members of the multi-platinum band +LIVE+, also investors in the new venture, with a very passionate key note speech from the band’s lead guitarist, Chad Taylor:

“By increasing our ability to connect to the global super highway of information, we enable our local economy to grow and compete on a global level…In order for Pennsylvania to compete with tech centers like San Francisco, we have to have cutting edge infrastructure to service software, application, and hardware innovators.  Without the network and data center backbone, Pennsylvania can never expect to land or develop the next Google, Apple or Facebook,” states Taylor in the UFD company launch speech, televised across all local networks, on February 28th in York, PA.

Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer and Chad Gracey of the multi-platinum band +LIVE+ are major investors in the new network that intends to provide broadband community access, to increase job opportunities and to stimulate the local economy. Broadband has become ever-more important in the growth of new businesses within the 21st Century and network infrastructure is an imperative component in allowing communities to expand their local economies.

“New technology, and most importantly, the transference of information, has become the new revolutionary force in our society. You might call data the new punk rock!” added Taylor.

The members of +LIVE+ are excited to give their support to a business venture that will give back to their home state and change the network landscape of Pennsylvania.

“United Fiber and Data, or UFD as we like to call it, is building a 400-mile fiber-optic network that extends from the political power of Washington DC, to the financial epicenter of New York City, and direct to one of the world’s fastest growing economies in Brazil. UFD’s network will greatly enhance the speed at which individuals and corporations can gain access to the data needed to propel their companies and their personal lives into the future.  This network can serve as the very backbone to our technological connectivity.”

Founded in 2009, UFD has completed all necessary planning and has secured rights of way for the first phase of construction. The UFD network will deliver services up to 100 Gbps and span more than 400 miles, stretching from New York City to Ashburn, Virginia. It will interconnect with many of the key data center, carrier interconnect and financial trading locations in the New York/New Jersey and northern Virginia areas.
