WireIE Wins “Best Rural Connectivity Provider” Award at Metro Connect 2014

We’ve all grown accustomed to, if not reliant on, connectivity – when we want it, where we want it and on the device we want it. For those living in rural and remote areas, however, connectivity is not a given.

Yet that’s what WireIE has dedicated its company to do – bring highly available, secure connectivity to rural and remote regions of Canada. And Capacity Magazine awarded that commitment last week by naming WireIE the “Best Rural Connectivity Provider” at its Metro Connect awards ceremony held in Miami, Florida on February 27.

“This is a milestone accomplishment for us at WireIE, and it serves to validate the excellent work that we have been doing over the past few years in Canada’s rural and remote regions,” stated an elated Rob Barlow, President & CEO of WireIE. “We take pride in the fact that our networks facilitate all of today’s mission-critical business applications, which change the way of doing business in Canada’s underserved markets.”

In November 2013, WireIE also created history when it became the first rural-focused carrier – globally – to achieve Metro Ethernet Forum’s (MEF) Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0 certification, which is the industry’s top accreditation for excellence in Carrier Ethernet networks.

2014 was the inaugural North American Metro Connect Awards competition. The program was designed by Capacity Media and Atlantic-ACM to recognize the telecom industry’s best in the North American metro market.
