Web Wise Kids Pulls the Plug on Cyberbullying with PSA in Times Square

Web Wise Kids, the recognized leader in Internet safety education and Trend Micro, a global leader in Internet content security, announce today the launch of their public service announcement (PSA), created to raise awareness on cyberbullying.

The winning video included in the PSA was produced by two teenagers in Canada -- Matt Bendo and KJ Proulx --for the 2010 first annual “What’s Your Story” campaign, sponsored by Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids & Families. The PSA will run on the CBS Superscreen in Times Square throughout the month of November.

“Cyberbullying has become a major issue affecting today’s youth,” states Judi Warren, President of Web Wise Kids. “Today, children are learning to use the Internet at much younger ages than ever before. We want to protect them and provide programs along with educational support to help them make wise choices online.”

“As a leading security vendor, our commitment is to provide quality, practical information to those who have a stake in keeping young people safe on the Internet,” said Lynette Owens, director of corporate outreach for Trend Micro. “We were so impressed with the depth, insight and quality of all the videos submitted for the ‘What’s Your Story’ campaign, especially Matt and KJ’s video on cyberbullying. We are proud to partner with Web Wise Kids in creating this public service announcement and hope it will be an opportunity to reach people with an important message, and inspire change for the better.”

Web Wise Kids provides parents, schools, law enforcement and community youth organizations with fun simulated experiential learning games for youth that teach them about the responsible use of technology and how to improve their personal safety.
