ViaWest is using GE’s highly reliable electrical distribution systems to power several of the company’s data centers, including the [Lone Mountain facility](http://www.viawest.com/data-center-communities/las-vegas-nv) in Las Vegas; the Cornell data center in Denver; the Synergy Park data center in Dallas; and two new data centers under construction in Denver and Minneapolis. “GE’s combination of highly reliable equipment, speed to market and financing options make them an ideal partner to help fuel the growth of our innovative data centers,” said Dave Leonard, ViaWest’s chief data center officer. “GE worked closely with our design engineers from the project’s inception to completion to ensure we had best-in-class electrical distribution system solutions to meet our needs.” To meet the rigorous standards of the Uptime Institute’s Tier IV design certification for [![ViaWest Logo](https://static.hsstatic.net/BlogImporterAssetsUI/ex/missing-image.png)](https://blog.jsa.net/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Logo-VW-Product-Focused-JPG-6.jpg)its newest data centers, ViaWest needed to deliver fully redundant power systems that would host mission-critical data with the highest levels of uptime, redundancy and fault tolerance. With a combination of critical electrical infrastructure and flexible financing, GE’s electrical distribution systems allowed ViaWest to maximize its use of capital by matching payments on the lease with cash inflows from new customers. GE’s electrical distribution systems, which include substation distribution equipment, switchboards, panelboards, transformers and power switching equipment, meet ViaWest’s needs for guaranteed uptime, redundancy and fault tolerance.
