ViaWest Expands into Minneapolis Market

In a bold move outside its more traditional service footprint, ViaWest today announced plans for its newest Tier IV design-certified data center to be built in the Minneapolis, Minnesota region.

Recognizing strong business demand for a colocation provider offering a broader range of services, ViaWest evaluated several key markets and completed the acquisition of 28 acres of land, existing buildings and infrastructure in a Minneapolis suburb. From this location, ViaWest will offer its comprehensive suite of premium wholesale and retail colocation, managed and cloud services.

Businesses in the Minnesota region follow the national trend of IT infrastructure outsourcing to achieve competitive advantage. These businesses are looking for hybrid environments to leverage both existing IT infrastructure and emerging cloud resources to find the right balance of cost, scalability and security.

ViaWest’s Las Vegas data center is the first colocation facility in North America to receive Tier IV design certification from the Uptime Institute. This designation is the highest possible and demonstrates industry-leading quality and uptime. ViaWest intends to apply for Uptime Institute Tier IV design certification for its Minneapolis facility upon completion of design documents.

ViaWest expects to commence construction of its 150,000 square-foot facility in time to permit availability in the first quarter of 2014.
