Vertix Consulting today announces that is has earned the Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) certification from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, joining the ranks of government-approved providers of consulting and advisory services. The certification provides the government with a list of certified and approved businesses with which they can execute new contracts and meet the goals set forth by the Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development act.
Businesses must meet strict guidelines in order to earn this prestigious certification, which include being at least 51% owned by one or more veterans and one or more veterans must control the daily business operations. The guidelines also require VOSBs to meet an extensive list of business-related quality criteria in order to be recognized.
VOSB certification was born out of the Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development act of 1999, which established an annual government-wide goal of awarding no less than 3% of the total value of all prime contracts and subcontracts awarded to small businesses controlled by veterans.
