But, as price wars are heating up, and ARPU is declining, MNO’s must adopt an aggressive cost structure in order to successfully deploy the tens and thousands of small cells required to significantly enhance performance. “Small cell adoption is on the rise; however, there is not one particular driver to solely account for the increase,” states Greg Weiner, Partner, Vertix Consulting. “Carriers are seeing a number of dynamics influencing the marketplace, including the evolution of the vendor-carrier relationship and menu-driven pricing.
