In lieu of building its own data center, the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) has selected ViaWest to provide colocation services for the academic institution that educates close to 25,000 students.
Founded in 1969 and growing rapidly, UTD has more than 130 degree programs in the fields of science, engineering, biomedical engineering, arts and technology. UTD is leveraging ViaWest’s colocation services to ensure its vast amount of research data will remain protected and accessible. ViaWest’s colocation solutions can be easily integrated with other services such as managed services, allowing the university to personalize its data configurations as it needs.
“There is a growing think tank that exists on the campus of UTD,” states Dr. Calvin Jamison, Vice President for Administration of UTD. “With the level of research that takes place on our campus, we needed a service provider that could handle existing and future data storage demand. ViaWest is a true partner to UTD, and there is no price that can be put on a solid, reliable partnership. The team at ViaWest shares in the culture of UTD, to produce the highest quality work, within a family atmosphere. Our relationship with ViaWest is more than just a business transaction, it is a true partnership.”
