United Fiber & Data (UFD) announced today that it has completed the engineering and prep work for its fiber-optic network’s river crossing across the Hudson and Passaic Rivers in northern New Jersey. The completion of the river crossings marks a milestone in UFD’s first-of-its-kind network build, which was launched on February 28th.
Following suit with the larger network plan, the river crossings were built on geographically diverse routes, offering a logical and diverse alternative to the traditional routes most other carriers follow. The two crossings will act as a key link for customers seeking to connect to key financial exchanges in New York and New Jersey by linking 165 Halsey in Newark to Manhattan and other key trading and financial exchange locations. The completion of the river crossing will also finalize the segment of the UFD network that connects Manhattan southward to Linden, New Jersey.
