Optical Communications Group (OCG) network remained 100% up and running during Superstorm Sandy. While the storm impacted many networks, particularly in and around NYC, OGC’s network has remained connected and online throughout the duration of the storm and its aftermath. With many businesses and carriers still recovering, OCG is available to restore and/or enhance the communications and back-up systems to those network operators in need.
OCG’s President, Brad Ickes, a former NYPD officer, has been with his team, working with the local police and rescue officials, to assist with first responders and emergency crews’ post-Sandy recovery efforts, in areas most devastated, such as Staten Island and the Rockaways.
With many people without essentials such as power and Internet, OCG has been making full use of its resources and is assisting those in need while keeping their network online. With diverse network connections throughout New York and New Jersey, OCG can connect enterprise and carrier networks to transcontinental and domestic networks from the Long Island landing stations without going through Manhattan.
