OCG Installs Dark Fiber Infrastructure at 325 Hudson in Preparation for 100G DWDM

Optical Communications Group (OCG) today announced the installation of the first of four high-count dark fiber cables in to the new Meet Me Room (MMR) at 325 Hudson. The new dark fiber is in preparation for the addition of a diverse 100G DWDM core transport node on its New York metro network.  The dark fiber provides physical access to the OCG network, which includes several transatlantic submarine cable systems, broadcast media and entertainment centers in the New York metro area and is available for lease or Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU).

The new dark fiber build is a 4 x 846 count cable design with all 4 cables coming from 4 different manholes on Hudson Street, allowing for the most diverse entrance and robust fiber access possible. OCG’s 100G DWDM core node in the 325 Hudson Street MMR will add diversity for customers looking for an alternative to the lit networks built over the past decade that are limited to offering only 10G transport services and, or only from legacy interconnection points.
