Next Stop: Beijing! TELEHOUSE Data Centers Expand in Greater China

TELEHOUSE growth continues to impress – today the leading global provider of dedicated data centers, international Internet exchanges, and managed IT services, announces that  its parent company, KDDI Corporation (TOKYO:9433), will invest approximately $140.6 million (11 billion Japanese yen) to expand its data center business in the Greater China market including China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

A new TELEHOUSE data center will be opened in Beijing, China, and come this December, the facility will be open to offer its TELEHOUSE global standard data center services. At that time, TELEHOUSE will also expand its customer colocation space in TELEHOUSE HONG KONG CCC.

KDDI, along with SINNET, a provider of data center and internet services based in Beijing, have worked together to establish the joint venture, TELEHOUSE BEIJING BDA Co, Ltd. Both companies making up this new venture will operate the TELEHOUSE BEIJING site.

KDDI presently operates four data centers in three cities in the Greater China Region, including Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The Beijing data center will be the fifth TELEHOUSE brand data center with the total floor area of 67,000 square meters (㎡) in the region.

The second Beijing data center from TELEHOUSE will be a brand new large scale, carrier-neutral facility boasting a floor area of about 25,000 square meters (㎡) located in the city’s Technological Development Area (BDA), a highly sought after base for major companies.

In addition to the new data center, the TELEHOUSE HONG KONG CCC facility, which opened in 2011, will be further expand by 11,500 square meters (㎡), making it one of the largest data centers in Hong Kong.

“KDDI and TELEHOUSE America recognize Greater China as one of the most important growing markets, and leading the whole Asian economy,” comments Satoshi Adachi, VP of TELEHOUSE America.   “Additionally, active entry of Japanese, European and American companies requires world quality standards with high reliability services. In response, the KDDI group will support its customers’ business expansions by providing premier data center services and a high quality global network, using TELEHOUSE as its core, backed by the service advantages KDDI has in China with CD Networks (CDN) and DMX Technology.”
