As the clock ticks down to 2012, JS&A is weighing in on the hottest new PR trends and best communications practices to tackle in the New Year.
Here’s our top 5—let us know if you have any others to add.
5. Sprinkle in a little hope: seems as the economy staggers along, successful campaigns and PR messages are those that are taking a turn towards hope and inspiration. Just check out some holiday e-cards and see how many companies are donating to charities this holiday season … here’s ours for your enjoyment: http://www.jsa.net/JSA_holiday_animation_2011.htm
4. Dialogues not monologues: forget about the social media strategies of days of old—the future is all about creating conversations, not just posting. Now that you built a community, it’s time to engage the members. Folks want to weigh in on your products and services and feel like they are being heard- within a supportive and responsive community. New trends here include polling, thanking, asking and most importantly, responding.
3. Uber-local vs. universal: smart brands are focusing on the granular as well as the global. With new metrics and intelligent databases, geography just got a lot easier to track, allowing campaigns to take on a global AND neighborhood appeal, when warranted.
2. Next-Gen Gurus: Next-generation PR pros will do it all—from pitching to writing and then posting, tracking and responding (there’s that word again!). Our new jack-of-all-trades are social media mavens, CSR gospel preachers, videographers, analytics engineers and full-time masters of research.
1. Video killed the Radio Star: As private time is getting slimmer and the work keeps piling on, virtual is the way to live these days—so our number one way to get the word out is video, video, video. Now you can truly be everywhere at once—track all the eyeballs on you—and maybe even sleep a wink or two! Plus it can increase your SEO and be spread around YouTube before you can even say “that’s a wrap”.
Happy Holidays to our JS&A community who keeps inspiring us year after year, and here’s to a fabulous 2012 together.
