New POP in Sabey’s Intergate.Manhattan Further Expands DE-CIX's NYC Presence

375 Pearl StreetDE-CIX will launch a point-of-presence (POP) of its DE-CIX Apollon interconnection platform in Sabey Data Centers’ Intergate.Manhattan, a 1 million-square-foot facility located at 375 Pearl Street in Lower Manhattan. Sabey will use DE-CIX Apollon peering and Metro VLAN Ethernet capabilities in the NY/NJ metro to provide enhanced interconnection options for its customers.

DE-CIX’s new POP in Intergate.Manhattan, expected to take place within the next 30-60 days, marks its continued expansion in New York City. Announced in September 2013 and first opened for customer orders in November 2013, DE-CIX New York continues to add data center sites to expand the coverage of the exchange and increase its utility to the Internet peering industry. DE-CIX is currently deployed in seven other data centers in New York and New Jersey and operates 111 access points throughout the metro area.  Screen shot 2014-07-08 at 10.50.15 AM

“We are committed to growing DE-CIX New York to one of the world’s five largest Internet exchanges by 2020. Expanding to Sabey’s Intergate.Manhattan facility is part of our effort to establish a DE-CIX presence in every relevant data center and carrier hotel in this metro. DE-CIX New York is just a cross connect away from 99% of the providers in this metro market,” said Frank Orlowski, CMO for DE-CIX.

Sabey Data Centers’ proprietary IGX fiber network will provide DE-CIX with two redundant links on diverse routes to connect 375 Pearl Street to DE-CIX at 111 Eight Avenue and 60 Hudson Street. The new POP, which is able to grow to multiple Terabits per second in the future, will enable Sabey tenants to utilize DE-CIX’s Ethernet interconnection options.
