Hibernia Express Has Arrived! The First New Transatlantic Cable in Over a Decade is Ready for Service

Hibernia Networks’ highly anticipated Hibernia Express, the first new transatlantic cable in over a decade, is officially ready for service. The 4,600km, ultra low latency submarine cable connects Halifax, Nova Scotia to Slough, England and Cork, Ireland, delivering fast, high-performance global network services. These services directly address the ever-growing demand for bandwidth, which TeleGeography has projected to increase 40% annually over the next six years due to cloud computing, large data transfer and storage requirements.

The 6-fiber-pair Hibernia Express cable is the most advanced of its kind, featuring cable infrastructure and optical transmission technologies that enable performance capabilities superior to any existing transatlantic system. The new route is capable of optical transport services up to 100Gbps speeds and capability of 200Gbps speed on select segments. Furthermore, Hibernia Express is engineered to potentially scale up to 400Gbps per circuit and beyond, allowing customers the ability to meet future bandwidth demands.
