6 June will forever go down in history as the day when the free world came together...to invade Nazi-held France via the beaches of Normandy in 1944, or as most know it, D-Day. Incidentally, on the same day exactly 100 years earlier the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) was founded, much to the future delight of French composer and Village People creator Jacques Morali.

However, these events, monumental as they were for the future of humankind and disco, will surely pale into insignificance after 6 June 2012 saw some of the biggest Internet players in the world – from Websites like Google and Facebook to service providers like Comcast and AT&T, not to mention hardware makers like Cisco and Ericsson – permanently implement IPv6 for their products and services....
