DE-CIX New York, a carrier- and data center-neutral Internet exchange distributed across major carrier hotels and data centers throughout the New York/New Jersey metro, has won the Capacity Metro Connect Awards 2014’s Judges’ Award.
DE-CIX was chosen as the recipient of this award for the launch
of its carrier neutral Internet exchange in the U.S., the first to be opened in New York City. DE-CIX New York is a large-scale Ethernet switching fabric that delivers carrier-neutral peering across multiple data centers. The DE-CIX model is different from the existing U.S. colocation and exchange model. DE-CIX offers high-capacity Ethernet switching infrastructure over an advanced optical backbone, distributed across NY/NJ data centers. This infrastructure delivers carrier-neutral connectivity for customers to exchange traffic at low cost and at speeds up to 100G and beyond.
Establishing DE-CIX New York brings a keystone of the global Internet to New York and elevates it as not only a world-class city, but as a world-class technology city. The establishment of DE-CIX New York is a step toward building an even stronger reputation for New York as a key global Internet hub with the most advanced technology available today.
The Capacity Metro Connect Award winners were announced at an awards ceremony and dinner in Miami Beach on February 27th.
