Out of Frankfurt today, DE-CIX announced the implementation of its newest interconnection platform, DE-CIX Apollon. This cutting-edge, scalable Ethernet platform will be the world’s largest and most advanced.
DE-CIX is the world’s leading Internet Exchange operator. It operates carrier-neutral exchanges for carriers, ISPs, content delivery networks and cloud computing providers in Frankfurt, Germany and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. DE-CIX in Frankfurt currently serves and connects over 500 networks from more than 50 countries.
The DE-CIX Apollon platform will provide transport speeds of up to 2 Terabits/sec per fiber pair, with a port density of up to 80 100 Gigabit Ethernet ports per core-router chassis. DE-CIX Apollon will also provide the full spectrum of Ethernet-based interconnection services, including DE-CIX’s premium peering at access speeds from 1 Gigabit to multiple 100 Gigabit ports. This furthers the overall scalability of DE-CIX, on which traffic has grown at a rate of 50-100% per year for the last 10 years.

DE-CIX Apollon will be showcased at the Global Peering Forum in San Diego on April 10 and will be featured on a thirteen-event roadshow across North America, Europe and the Middle East from April–December 2013. The DE-CIX Apollon platform in Frankfurt is currently being deployed and will be ready for service in December 2013; the platform will be extended to select international markets.
