Hunter Newby, CEO of Allied Fiber, will be speaking at MetroConnect 2013 at 5:15pm on Wednesday, February 20th in Miami FL. The event promises to be a great networking opportunity and bring metro and local access providers from the US together to meet the market and discuss strategy for the year ahead. Hunter’s presentation is titled “FirstNet: Threat or Opportunity” and aims to assess and provide insight on the national broadband initiative authorized and funded by Congress known as “FirstNet”.
America still lacks a cohesive, nationwide broadband infrastructure plan to keep up with accelerating fiber and wireless demands. The FirstNet project has been allocated $7 billion but unfortunately, the goals are not very clear and it has not been publicized. Hunter believes that the first step for the success of this network should be to publicly talk about its development to clarify goals and involve a corporate communications plan encompassed by a team of experts within the industry.
Allied Fiber owns, builds and will operate its own network-neutral, fiber optic cable system, connecting sub-sea landing points, cell towers, data centers, carrier hotels, colocation huts, enterprise buildings, schools and governments with next generation, long-haul and short-haul dark fiber.
