Ahead of the Pack: Hibernia Express Links New York to London in 58.95 Milliseconds

Hibernia Networks’ Hibernia Express cable is not only transporting customer traffic across the Atlantic, it is doing so faster than any other transatlantic cable from New York to London. Hibernia today announced that the new submarine cable has an actual tested latency better than 58.95ms from LD4 in Slough, England to NY4 in Secaucus, New Jersey. The actual latency is more than half a millisecond faster than the original projected speed and an incredible achievement in engineering.

Hibernia Networks CEO, Bjarni Thorvardarson commented on this announcement, saying: ”our team, along with our key partner, TE SubCom, has worked tirelessly to ensure the Hibernia Express cable system provides our customers with unmatched capabilities. The test results confirm that we are able to provide the lowest latency, highest capacity solutions to support the business objectives of our customers.”

Since announcing Hibernia Express is ready for service, Hibernia Networks has been rigorously testing the cable over the past two weeks to ensure power stability, spectral efficiency and to confirm its latency. Services have been turned-up on the cable and customers who pre-ordered the Ultra Low Latency services on the new system are already benefitting from the cable’s lowest latency performance.
