To help kick off the event this year, the [Hibernia Atlantic](http://www.hiberniaatlantic.com/) European team led by Fergus Innes and youth from a program called Step by Step handed out bright yellow ponchos to help protect participants and fans from wet weather over the course of the next few days.  Strategically positioned at a nearby train station close to the Celtic Manor[![](https://static.hsstatic.net/BlogImporterAssetsUI/ex/missing-image.png "ryder_cup_logo_2010")](https://blog.jsa.net/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/ryder_cup_logo_20101.jpg) Resort in Wales, Hibernia and the youth organization [![](https://static.hsstatic.net/BlogImporterAssetsUI/ex/missing-image.png "RyderCup2")](https://blog.jsa.net/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/RyderCup2.jpg)handed out the ponchos to attendees.  Step by Step is an important program to Hibernia and provides opportunities specifically for young people in need. This year's competition should prove to be an exciting match up between the two teams led by U.S. Captain Corey Pavin and European Captain Colin Montgomerie. Hibernia Atlantic owns a diverse transAtlantic submarine cable and terrestrial fiber network that connects Europe to the United States and Canada with over 100 redundant network Points of Presence (PoPs) on over 24,000 kilometers of network. And as per yesterday’s [announcement](http://www.jsa.net/jsablog/2010/09/30/hibernia-atlantics-project-express-marks-the-first-transatlantic-cable-system-build-in-almost-10-years/), Hibernia Atlantic will be extending their kilometers dramatically;  the company just unveiled their plans for Project Express, the lowest latency connection between New York and London, with sub 60 ms latency, a boon for financial companies requiring high speed, frequency trading.
